It’s hard to believe but on June 27, 2008 we will hold our 20th annual Liberty Block Party at Whitney Park. What began as a small event in front of our Downtown location on Saturday after the Wheels Wings and Water Parade with a few hundred participants has grown to a free standing event with national entertainment and thousands and thousands of spectators.

This year’s event will feature several components. Headline entertainment is the legendary Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, who began with the hit "Mr. Bojangles" and had a successful career for the next 20 years with hits like "Make a Little Magic", "American Dream" and "Fishin’ in the Dark". There will be two dozen food vendors serving just about everything. We also are featuring a children’s carnival area with a dozen stations of activities. Last but not least, Cannonball Smith from Las Vegas, who holds the world’s record for distance being shot from a cannon will be propelled over the park just prior to the main musical act. It promises to be a memorable night.
